Tickle Tickle Little Fight
Tickle Tickle Little Fight
How I wonder why you start
Down below the underarm
And some places by my side...
Okay. Maybe I just ruined one of your childhood memories or not. Maybe you have ruined it yourself by some other weird versions you’ve heard from secondary school or from one of the comedians whose punch lines you missed.
The human body is full of different components and science took a long time studying it and is still studying it. Human beings, apart from the super heroes who live among us pretending to be mere men m, have five sense organs and the skin is one large organ. It's the organ that processes touch.
In my bid of understanding how tickles work, I discovered Darwin didn't just study the evolution of man but also the Scientology of tickles and boy, was he wrong. He thought humour and tickle were related one way or the other. Imagine someone tickling you through a bad joke... Yeah.
There are two kinds of tickles - the one that irritates you when someone uses a feather or their hand to mildly touch you and the one that makes you laugh uncontrollably when someone goes for the places you’re rarely touched i.e your underarm, belly and neck.
Let me share the unsettling truth about tickles - it's the most primitive form of conflict between two people.
Every time you tickle your child or niece, you’re preparing them to soak in some jokes and not take life too seriously because you aren’t attacking them but you’re also showing them how to behave if they ever are attacked - turn the attacker into a joke.
We don’t know why some people are ticklish while others aren’t but know this:
Tickles are a socialization method. It’s one way we bond, keep in touch and connect with each other.
So, whenever you tickle someone, remind them it’s all love and not fight.
