The popular movie was Love & Basketball, right? But the popular intimacy slangs in relationship hailed from Baseball. What shall we say to these things?

Romantic relationships are everywhere we look — movies, books, TV shows and series, on social media [even during this social distancing time] and they are fun to be in. There are euphemisms to describe the different levels of physical involvment in these relationships. I can’t pinpoint when exactly I heard the term first base, second base or so but it was before I heard the term vajayjay; don’t ask me. Google it.

Welcome to the 10th Episode of One Thing You Don’t Have to Know and I think you should read this with a resounding applause in your mind. Today, we’re learning about baseball metaphors for sex in pop culture.

Baseball is a honorable sport — highly respected from the early 80’s to the war and after. It was seen as a metaphor of life, which I don’t get because every time I see a baseball player, all I see is white pants and toned butt muscle. The rest of the story is warped.

These metaphors started after World War II to describe sexual activities, gender and inclinations.

If you have no idea about what I’m talking about, please keep it that way unless you’re curious.

First base: this is just kissing, French kissing. It’s the PG 16 version of what happened between people who are romantically involved. For some folks, they are stuck at the first base.

Second base: this is touching body parts while clothes is still on. It’s not exactly touching the skin. It’s kissing while fondling and carressing other parts of the body.

Third base: touching below the waist while clothes are still on, especially the genital areas to stimulate some level of sexual intensity.

Home run: this is full-on sex.

There’s also one more -strike out, which is not engaging in any form of sexual activity or physical foreplay.

So, when discussing sexual stuff with your friends in public, you might want to learn some of these slangs to have private conversations still.

Love is a good sports and baseball is an accurate way of playing it.
